{"id":444,"date":"2018-01-12T23:05:42","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T23:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/?p=444"},"modified":"2018-01-12T23:10:35","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T23:10:35","slug":"im-gonna-pop-some-tags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/index.php\/2018\/01\/12\/im-gonna-pop-some-tags\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m gonna pop some tags&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-443 \" src=\"http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2017-10-19-15-51-59-576x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2017-10-19-15-51-59-576x1024.png 576w, http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2017-10-19-15-51-59-169x300.png 169w, http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2017-10-19-15-51-59-768x1365.png 768w, http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screenshot_2017-10-19-15-51-59.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 85vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(<em>always check the men&#8217;s section at the senior center thrift store for great retro &#8220;old man&#8221; sweaters like the one I&#8217;m wearing here.\u00a0 Also&#8211;a thrift store is a gallery walls best friend<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>I grew up in what was then the outskirts of Mesa, which meant that for the majority of life&#8217;s activities we had to take a trip &#8220;into town&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Into town&#8221;, whether it be for doctor, dentist or grocery, always included a visit to the thrift stores.\u00a0 Thus my love for the search of a &#8220;lucky find&#8221; (<em>a term I borrowed from Wallace of &#8220;Wallace and Gromit&#8221; fame<\/em>) was born.<\/p>\n<p>I now live in what could be called the outskirts of the hub of the White Mountains, meaning that I must travel for stores and the like in neighboring Show Low or Pinetop\/Lakeside.\u00a0 And just as in my childhood, these trips always include the search for a &#8220;lucky find&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Today Easton and I took one such trip to visit her orthodontist.\u00a0 Then, with our breakfast of Super Nachos in hand (<em>trips into town also always mean food<\/em>), We waited patiently for my particular favorite type of thrift store to open.\u00a0 The beloved Senior Center.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Centers are the best for &#8220;lucky finds&#8221; of the vintage variety and I am a little bit into (<em>read obsessed<\/em>) with the vintage variety.<\/p>\n<p>After scoring these salt and pepper shakers<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-445 \" src=\"http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/20180112_145354-e1515796662491-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/20180112_145354-e1515796662491-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/20180112_145354-e1515796662491-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/wordsforthisday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/20180112_145354-e1515796662491-1200x1600.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 85vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(<em>because I remember them from my grandparents&#8217; house and if I remember them from my grandparents&#8217; house then Rick will surely remember them from his grandparents&#8217; house which will cause us to gaze at them together as we wax nostalgic and tell stories of our youth and smile.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so good and so worth a dollar<\/em>)\u00a0 I turned my attention to the sale they were having on all things winter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re having trouble moving our winter merchandise this year.&#8221;\u00a0 The nice thrift store lady told us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh we&#8217;ll be happy to help you with that.&#8221;\u00a0 I told her.\u00a0 &#8220;Even without snow we&#8217;re still cold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Are you from the valley?&#8221;\u00a0 She asked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well, I did grow up in Mesa but we&#8217;ve been here almost 12 years.&#8221;\u00a0 I said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And you still haven&#8217;t acclimated?&#8221;\u00a0 She seemed surprised.<\/p>\n<p>I never will nice thrift store lady.\u00a0 I never, never will.
